Fire Damage Experts Restore Highlands Biggest School In Just A Few Days

Rainbow International’s Highlands branch was called in to carry out a rapid fire restoration at Culloden Academy in Inverness, the largest school in the highlands with a roll of almost 1100 pupils following a fire, just shortly after returning from a summer break. The fire, which started in the kitchen area, caused extensive smoke damage to the kitchen and adjoining store and staff rooms.

A Quick Response from Rainbow Highlands team

Rainbow International’s Highlands branch in Alness, were instructed by the Loss Adjuster and attended on-site to scope the job that same day. Once the initial inspection was undertaken, and the recommended restoration process was authorised by the loss adjuster, it was all systems go for this dedicated team of specialist Highlands fire restoration technicians and cleaners who have vast experience in dealing with fire damage.

In order to minimise disruption and to ensure meticulous Health & Safety regulations were observed, the majority of the work was undertaken over the weekend while there were no pupils in the building.

What did the fire restoration work involve?

Before cleaning commenced, the team installed Rainbow’s air manager system in order to clean the air and remove harmful smoke & soot particles.

Another Air Manager machine was also put into the library in order to ensure that all contents were protected.

The first area in the kitchen to be cleaned was the ceiling in order to prepare it for redecoration. The team then tackled the tiled walls which were heavily contaminated with soot and smoke deposits and required specialist soot removal.

The mammoth clean-up operation also meant cleaning the large cookers and serving areas as well as all the crockery, cutlery, utensils and pots and pans you would expect to see in such large kitchens.

Specialised cleaning products were brought in to ensure that the decontamination process from the ceiling to the floor and all work surfaces and contents in the areas affected was thorough.

The result – a successful fire damage restoration with minimal disruption

After a few days of hard work and serious elbow grease by the Highlands Rainbow International team, the shining kitchen was ready again for the staff and pupils of Culloden Academy on a remarkably quick turnaround.

What’s more, the additional attention paid to the library saved the school the otherwise considerable cost of replacing many of the books.
